A BLOG ABOUT ART, DESIGN AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

Food & Wine

They say some of the best things in life are free... And I have found some major truth in that. There is nothing like having a meal with friend and sharing laughter, stories and a bite to eat... BUT SOME TIMES when it comes to a moment when heaven touches your taste buds... you just have to bite the bullet and pay big for it.

AQUA - SANFRANCISCO, C.A.
(CUISINE: FRENCH SEAFOOD) *****
As I was on the plane to S.F. I was sitting next to local of the bay area and his raving reviews led my footsteps from off the plane and to a cab to drive to AQUA. It was beyond my expectations. This restaurant is just exquisite. Everything from the decor to the white glove service is just over the top.

Fresh seafood is the focus of the menu but no fear for meat lover there is something there for you to.
They offer a seven course tasting menu which I would not pass up. It's well worth the $95 per person fee, it seems a little steep but an unforgettable food experience. It always changes so I'm not sure what you'll get once you get there but mine still leaves a footprint in my sensory memory to this day.

They served a lobster soup where the waiters come over to fill up your bowls with cream as you watch it heat up the shredded tenders of lobster. Followed by a Tuna Tartar, that I can not get out of my head to this day. The waiter comes over to crack a small quail egg over a citrus dressing that he then glazes over fresh tuna. At first the raw quail egg turned me off... but to my delight I closed my eyes and tasted the most fantastic tuna tartar I will ever taste again in a lifetime. We also had small bites of many other delicate tasting bites and just when we thought we were full they bring a heaping large portion of fish to the table that I would have served for a table of 4? Well so much for the French and their small portions... "This chef gave the people what they wanted... a real meal. This is a fantastic place to go to impress a date, a business partner or just a romantic evening out. A must go FIVE STAR event.

HARVEST ON THE HUDSON - HASTINGS, N.Y
(CUISINE: RUSTIC Mediterranean
) *****
If you are looking for a true European experience with fantastic food, a rustic cozy atmosphere and fantastic views... THIS IS A MUST. This restaurant is situated right along the Hudson River. There are these cute chimneas and fire places always bustling with warmth and heat situated across their entire gardens... It's fantastic. You feel welcomed like the way you would if an Italian Grandma invited you to her country side villa for a meal. Everything from the hanging sausages and cheeses over the bar to the rustic heart warming meals makes you happy here. =)
If you choose to have a casual drink by the bar, they offer these fabulous pizzas... like the "Broccoli Babe, Sausage, Gorgonzola, Mozzarella" is one of my favorites. Be sure to try there cocktails, the bartender is a good one. I often get the "Dirty Martini" followed by an "Expresso Martini' for dessert.
You can feel the love in the food and the atmosphere. You can tell they the owners took a lot of time and effort into making you enjoy the experience of their food and atmosphere.
